Police say at least one person was killed when multiple shooters opened fire at the Islamic Center of San Diego, prompting a heavy police and SWAT presence at the location.
Authorities say two suspects are dead and the threat has been “neutralized.”
Children from nearby schools were evacuated from the area as police established a perimeter around the Islamic Center.
Mayor Todd Gloria says there is no further threat to the community.
The Islamic Center of San Diego, the largest mosque in San Diego County, is situated in the Clairemont neighborhood next to Interstate 805.
