Neighbors are voicing growing concerns over a tiny home village under construction in Hollywood. The city-run site will feature 51 tiny homes designed as transitional housing for people experiencing homelessness. Just two weeks ago, Mayor Karen Bass joined other city leaders for a groundbreaking ceremony at the location. Residents in the working-class neighborhood say they fear the project will attract more homeless individuals and lead to increases in crime, drug activity, and other quality-of-life issues. Their concerns come after the area had gone months without visible encampments lining nearby sidewalks. Supporters of the project argue the village will provide a safer and more structured alternative to street homelessness. Councilman Hugo Soto-Martinez’s office says the facility will have 24-hour security staffing and that the community itself will operate as a drug-free zone for residents seeking temporary shelter and support services.
