The Los Angeles County Fire Department is helping with disaster response efforts following the deadly earthquakes in Venezuela. Members of the department’s USA-2 Urban Search and Rescue team deployed to the country to conduct both aerial and ground damage assessments in the hardest-hit areas. On Sunday, the department shared aerial images on social media showing widespread destruction caused by the powerful quakes. Additional photos showed team members wearing protective gear and helmets as they searched through collapsed and severely damaged buildings for possible survivors. More than 2,000 rescue workers from around the world have joined the international response centered in the Caracas region, working alongside local emergency crews. The Los Angeles County firefighters arrived in Venezuela on Friday as part of the U.S. Department of State’s Urban Search and Rescue deployment. Their mission is to assist with search operations, assess structural damage, and support ongoing humanitarian relief efforts following the disaster.
