Juan Angel Rivera, 21, faces a maximum of 26 years to life behind bars if convicted in the death of Nathan Alfaro, who was attacked about 10:30 p.m. Thursday at Underground DTSA at 220 Third St. Prosecutors planned to ask that Rivera’s bail be set at $1 million at his arraignment this afternoon at the Central Jail in Santa Ana. The defendant is accused of getting into a confrontation with the 23- year-old victim during the live performance. He allegedly pulled out a knife and stabbed Alfaro multiple times in the upper body. Alfaro died at UCI Medical Center in Orange. Rivera left the club with several other people and was arrested about 10:40 a.m. the following morning as he was leaving his home. Five punk bands were lined up to perform Thursday night, and the stabbing occurred during the second band’s set. The club was shut down after the stabbing.
