Americans are increasingly frustrated with disruptive children in restaurants, with a new survey finding 75 percent of consumers support some form of adults-only dining. That includes nearly 80 percent of parents. Restaurant owners are also dealing with unruly kids who can disrupt other diners and sometimes damage expensive equipment. Bay Area restaurant owner You You Xue has taken a firm stance at Chez Xue, posting a warning on the restaurant’s online menu. The message asks parents to keep children seated and respectful, saying running, shouting, and making noise with utensils will not be tolerated. The warning went viral online, with many commenters supporting Xue’s approach. Xue says his staff is trained to take appropriate action when children misbehave, but employees do not confront the kids or interfere with parents handling the situation. He says the restaurant is family-friendly and does not ban children. Instead, Xue says he simply expects parents to supervise their kids and ensure they behave respectfully.
