There’s a new app that allow users to show the world what others think of them. It also gives you a way to rate the people you know or have encountered. CEO and Peeple app co-counder Julia Cordray says the app uses three categories: personal, professional and dating.
“Peeple allows you to safely manage your online reputation while making better decisions about the people around you. Think of this as your character as a new form of social currency.”
Cordray says you can think of it as Yelp! for people but there are differences.
“It was the easiest way to explain our concept, but I want to make sure I’m clear here, Yelp is anonymous and users are anonymous and the Yelp! system is often gamed and the business owners are at the mercy of fake anonymous reviews. With the Peeple app you are not anonymous and you have full control of what goes live on your profile.”
Cordray says the Peeple app fills a gap.
“I don’t find social media a very safe place to manage your online reputation. I can go look up your social media and make snap judgments about you and that’s not in your best interest.”
The app asks you to rate your experience with people as positive, neutral or negative. There’s also a space to write in a recommendation. If you choose to join people, you can decide which reviews the public can see.
Cordray was a guest on 790 KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning with Dough McIntyre and Terrie Rae Elmer.
