One person is dead and two others are seriously injured after a fishing boat crashed into rocks near the Golden Gate Bridge. Richard Smith, commanding officer of Coast Guard Golden State, says it remains unclear what led to the crash. San Francisco police were first called to the waters near the bridge shortly after six yesterday morning. Fire crews and Coast Guard personnel responded and were able to rescue three people from the boat. All three were taken to a hospital for treatment. However, a 35-year-old man from San Jose later died from his injuries. The two other victims remain hospitalized with life-threatening injuries. Authorities have not released additional information about their conditions. The Coast Guard and San Francisco police are investigating the crash and working to determine what happened before the boat struck the rocks. Officials have not said whether weather, mechanical problems, or other factors played a role in the incident.
