The Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office is suing Wagmor Pets, accusing the business of operating a “puppy-laundering operation.” The lawsuit alleges Wagmor bought dogs from illegal puppy mills and resold them as rescued animals to unsuspecting customers. Officials say people who believed they were saving animals were charged adoption fees that could reach thousands of dollars. The lawsuit also names Wylder’s Holistic Pet Center, Melissa Bacelar and Doho House. It alleges the defendants used multiple companies, including an apparent nonprofit, to purchase and resell hundreds, possibly thousands, of dogs from breeders in violation of several laws. City Attorney Hydee Feldstein Soto says numerous dogs sold through the alleged operation died shortly after being adopted. The lawsuit seeks to hold the defendants accountable for their business practices and protect consumers and animals. The allegations have not been proven in court, and the defendants will have an opportunity to respond to the claims.
