How does anyone run up a toll bill for $49,000? It turns out, it takes a lot of time and a lot of trips through FasTrak toll gates with a credit card no longer connected to a live bank account. Plus lots of fines. The Toll Roads has recovered more than $10,000, plus a $5,000 credit Oceanside resident Sherri Hutton won by joining a class-action lawsuit against the Toll Roads alleging constitutionally excessive fines back in 2010. The mother of three, married to a U.S. Marine Sergeant Michael P. Hutton with two tours of duty in Afghanistan and two tours in Iraq under his belt. The Hutton’s are not out of the woods. They still owe more than $31,000. The Toll Authority still wants their money, according to Orange County columnist Teri Sforza. Read more about this outlandish story here.
