Saturdays at 9AM

Meet Mara Gibbs
Ever since I was a little girl and was fortunate enough to visit Europe with my parents, I have had a zealous appetite for anything related to cooking, food, wine, restaurants, and hotels.
As a young adult, I attended The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park, New York. On weekends, I made a point of visiting New York City to explore and eat in some of their formidable restaurants. I quickly befriended many of the owners and chefs who at the time were from France, Italy, Spain and Mexico because of my fluency in French, Italian, and a good deal of Spanish!

On a side note, my older brother Peter Morton, is considered a restaurant creative genius. He founded The Great American Disaster in London, The Hard Rock Cafes worldwide, Mortons in Los Angeles, and The Hard Rock Hotel in Las Vegas. I always wanted to follow in his footsteps, but I have way too many other interests for restaurant and hotel empire building.
I developed a story about a wonderful chef for film before the Food Network ever came into fruition. I also wrote a book about the world’s 100 most legendary restaurants and some hotels, “Everybody Eats There”, and formerly was a writer for the Huffpost writing about Food, wine, restaurants, and hotels.
I was approached by many television and movie producers to turn my book and articles for the Huffpost into a reality show. I never felt that they “Got it”.
I took the reins and created my own vision that I took to a radio station in New York, WVOX where I have hosted my own radio show, “Everybody Eats There” since 2017. I will share this vision now with you here on KABC. So, tune in every Saturday morning at 9am, NO RESERVATIONS NECESSARY!
