A suspect in last Friday’s deadly shooting at a Spirit Halloween store in Fairfield is now in custody. Police say the 17-year-old was arrested Monday at a home in Suisun City. A school resource officer identified him shortly after the shooting. Investigators say the suspect entered the store at Solano Town Center Friday night and opened fire on an intended target, striking seven people. Thirty-one-year-old Constance Hages, who was pregnant, was killed. The six other victims, ranging in age from 16 to [age not provided], were injured. Police have not released additional details about the suspect or a possible motive. The investigation remains ongoing as authorities work to determine what led to the shooting. The teenager is expected to face charges in connection with the deadly attack.

Prosecutors have filed charges against two people accused of murdering Christina Downer, the sister of “Saturday Night Live” writer Jimmy Fowlie. One of the suspects is her boyfriend, 41-year-old Delorean Brandon. The other is 34-year-old Kaylee Markowski. Prosecutors allege both were involved in Downer’s killing, the disposal of her body and efforts to cover up their involvement. Both suspects are being held on two-million-dollars bail. Downer, who was 38, was reported missing in December 2025. However, prosecutors say she was killed three months earlier, in September. Investigators have not released additional details about the circumstances surrounding her death. The case has drawn attention because of Downer’s connection to Fowlie, who is known for his work as a writer on the long-running NBC sketch comedy show. The two defendants now face prosecution in connection with her death.

Voters across the country are heading to the polls today for Midterm Election Day. NBC’s Chris Pollone reports more than 54 million early votes have already been cast nationwide. President Trump has held more than two dozen in-person events across the country, seeking to boost Republican candidates ahead of Election Day. But a New York Times-Siena poll shows Democrats leading in several key Senate races, including contests in Texas, Ohio and Iowa. Control of Congress is at stake, with voters weighing in on races that could shape the direction of the federal government for the remainder of Trump’s term. The results are expected to provide an important measure of voter sentiment and could have significant implications for both parties as they look toward the next election cycle.

According to The Associated Press, two regional officials and another person familiar with the discussions said Netanyahu wants additional strikes after the November 3 U.S. midterm elections. The Israeli leader reportedly raised the issue during a weekend phone call with Trump, who made no commitment to further military action.

Meanwhile, negotiations involving regional mediators have shown progress. Discussions center on a potential agreement that would require Iran to stop attacks in the Strait of Hormuz in exchange for the United States lifting its blockade of Iranian ports.

Iran has also outlined a two-day plan to reopen the strategic waterway and resume nuclear negotiations if Washington meets its conditions.

Other U.S. allies in the Middle East have expressed concerns about additional strikes, warning that further military action could destabilize the region.

For now, Washington continues to weigh military options while diplomatic discussions remain underway.

The search is continuing for the shooter who killed a pregnant woman and injured six others at a Spirit Halloween store in Fairfield.  David Bernal says his wife was inside the store at the Solano Town Center Friday night when gunfire erupted. The woman killed has been identified as 31-year-old Constance Hages.  Police believe the incident was a targeted shooting but it’s unclear whether the woman who was shot was the target.  Three of the victims, ranging in age from 16 to 22, remain in critical condition while a fourth is critical but stable.  Two others were treated for gunshot wounds and released.

Director Michael Mann was hospitalized after accidentally shooting himself at a Los Angeles gun range over the weekend. A spokesperson for the filmmaker told multiple outlets that a firearm he was using accidentally discharged while holstered. The spokesperson described the incident as an accident that caused a “superficial injury.” Mann was taken to the hospital, where he received treatment before being released. According to Deadline, the incident is not expected to affect production plans for “Heat 2.” Mann is scheduled to begin directing the highly anticipated sequel in January. The film is a follow-up to his 1995 crime thriller “Heat,” starring Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. Further details about the circumstances surrounding the accidental discharge have not been released. Despite the incident, the production is expected to remain on schedule, with filming set to begin as planned early next year.

A strong winter weather pattern is taking shape, and San Diegans may already be seeing the first signs of it. Scientists say a powerful jet stream has formed between Hawaii and California, creating a pathway for moisture-rich storms tied to El Niño to reach the West Coast. The latest storm brought rain across San Diego County this weekend, and the National Weather Service says the region has already received about twice its normal October rainfall. La Jolla also set a record last week when a high tide reached just over 9 feet, the highest level recorded there in 102 years, causing minor flooding in places including Point Loma, Pacific Beach, Mission Beach and along Harbor Drive. Forecasters say more king tides are expected November 24th through 26th and again December 23rd through 25th, but it’s too early to know whether future storms and high tides will line up to cause broader flooding problems.

According to NBC News, the Learjet 60 was traveling from Austin-Bergstrom International Airport in Texas to North Eleuthera Airport in the Bahamas when it crashed near Cresthaven at approximately 12:50 p.m. local time.

U.S. Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy confirmed that all nine people aboard the aircraft died.

The impact caused a large explosion, leaving debris scattered across the crash site. Emergency responders rushed to the area, while authorities closed nearby roads and evacuated approximately 600 residents as a precaution.

Florida Governor Ron DeSantis said no one on the ground was injured.

Before the crash, the pilot had reported turbulence, icing, and precipitation while flying through the region. However, officials have not determined whether weather conditions contributed to the accident.

The National Transportation Safety Board is leading the investigation, with assistance from the Federal Aviation Administration. Investigators are working to establish what caused the aircraft to go down.

CNN previously reported that Ukraine had exhausted its supply of Patriot interceptors earlier in October, raising concerns about its ability to defend against ballistic missile attacks.

On October 30, the US State Department approved a potential $2.1 billion sale of 500 Patriot PAC-3 MSE interceptors. These advanced defensive missiles are designed to destroy incoming ballistic threats.

The purchase will be financed through contributions from Canada, Germany, and Norway, along with European Union-backed funding. The US government will not provide financing for the transaction.

Despite the approval, delivery remains a significant concern. No official delivery schedule has been announced, and newly manufactured missiles could take years to arrive.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has called for faster shipments, including missiles from existing American stockpiles.

Ukraine is also seeking approximately 100 Patriot interceptors each month to strengthen its defenses against continuing Russian attacks.
