Lamenting the growing threat of cancel culture, Dr. Erwin Lutzer on Newsmax TV warns, people of faith must “stand with a great deal of confidence and courage.”
“Many pastors are backing off and they are being shamed into silence,” Lutzer, pastor of The Moody Church in Chicago, told Saturday’s “America Right Now.”
Speaking about religious freedoms and faith running in contrast to political views – say, for instance, a Catholic President Joe Biden supporting and funding the abortion movement – Lutzer fears religious leaders not standing for their faith and beliefs, instead choosing politically correct or expedient alternatives.
Lutzer’s book “We Will Not Be Silenced: Responding Courageously to Our Culture’s Assault on Christianity” was released on Nov. 3, 2020 – coincidentally Biden’s Election Day.
The book addresses the dangers of not standing against tyranny and totalitarianism in the face of public and political pressure, including aggressive cancel culture calls.
“It was Winston Churchill who said, ‘an appeaser is someone who feeds the alligator with the hope that the alligator will eat him last,'” Lutzer told host Tom Basile.
“So what you have today is people are feeding the alligator, so to speak, hoping that when the political left, the radical left comes, they won’t come for us.
“So that’s why when one person is being deplatformed everybody else seems to follow suit.”
