OC DA Explains Why Suspected Accomplice In Jailbreak Is Free

The ESL teacher held on suspicion of helping three inmates escape from the Santa Anan Men’s Jail has been released.  Orange County Attorney General Tony Rackauckas says the evidence to bring charges simply was not there. For instance, investigators found that the letters thought to have been written by Nooshafarin Ravaghi to inmate Hossein Nayeri  were actually written by Nayeri

And if you listen to the content, it sounds like she certainly might be assisting him with the escape.  But as it turns out a handwriting comparison shows us that those letters were actually written by him, they’re in his handwriting. So that changes the picture a lot.

Investigators were still trying to figure out why Nayeri, who speaks English and graduated from high school in California, was in an ESL class. Rackauckas said he is working now to get the trials for the three inmates back on track as soon as possible.   Tony Rackauckas was a guest on 790 KABC’s McIntyre in the Morning with Doug McIntyre and Terrie Rae Elmer.
