U.S. Justice Department Investigates Uber

Uber is being investigated for allegedly using software to evade government regulators who were trying to shut down its ride-hailing service. The company developed a program called Greyball help the company in markets where the service was not allowed by authorities.

The New York Times reported on Greyball in March, raising questions about the legality of the practice. After the report, Uber said it would discontinue its use of the software.
