(5/16/2008 8:08:18 AM) Doug and team, re the gay marriage debate this morning, I have to respond to the guy who brought up the classic and tiresome comment about how gays should be allowed to have the same civil and legal rights to union that we straights have (I'm straight), but just shouldn't be allowed to call it "marriage" because that should be reserved for a man and a woman. Fifty years ago, white people told black people that it was OK if they rode on the same bus with whites, have the same kind of seats and get from point A to point B just the same - they just couldn't sit up here in the front because that was for the whites. Being able to hold your head up high in society and be recognized as equal, even if different, makes all the difference in the world. There is a HUGE difference between the front and the back of the bus. So it's just not going to cut it to offer second-class "union" status to two people who are in love and who want to be recognized as married just like other married people. Gay people need to be allowed to get married and they need to be accorded equal social status and respect. The time has come for equal rights and equal RESPECT for the gay community. |

(5/15/2008 8:41:16 AM) Re: Cindy MacCain.....Heir to Busch beer fortune. worth $100 million or more. 18 years younger. A "trophy" wife. MacCain dumped his first wife who had waited for him during his imprisonment in VietNam. She was disabled is a car accident while he was imprisoned. He pays her less than $18,000 a year in support. His income is over $400,000 a year. Any focus on Cindy MacCain will raise to highlight the sad story of the first wife and how MacCain treated her. |

(5/14/2008 1:31:30 PM) Just a quick comment... My husband is one of the two LAUSD employees (painters) who have been at Locke High School almost all the time now for about 8 months. He does not make "around $70,000 a year". The figure would be closer to $44,000 a year. Thanks |

(5/12/2008 11:59:52 AM) Hey Doug-I was listening to Tammy Bruce on Saturday and she played a clipped of Obama stating that he had been to most of the states in the Union-all 57 of them! Where's the outrage of that statement? Haven't heard about it on any news programs. But if McCain had said that-It would have been all over the news. How about it? |

(5/8/2008 3:30:08 PM) Dear Doug,

It bothers me too that the local newspapers aren't picking up the Jamiel story. Under your picture in the comment section of the Daily News I submitted a question there had been no follow up on that column , they answered and said they would contact the parties mentioned. We'll see. |
