(Atlanta, GA) — Those participating in high-intensity gym workouts during the pandemic should wear a mask. The C-D-C says it’s necessary, citing two COVID clusters last year involving gyms. In Chicago, 55 of the 81 people who participated in high-intensity classes last summer eventually tested positive despite bringing their own mats, staying six feet apart and getting temperature checks. The Honolulu outbreak last June was tied to a fitness instructor who taught at several gyms. The C-D-C is urging gym users to remain masked and gym owners to improve ventilation and offer outdoor options when possible.
