As we are poised to be drawn into a full-fledged conflict, the White House is telling Americans to get out of Ukraine, that we may not be able the evacuate them (and we know how that played out in Afghanistan) and staying ins unsafe. Some Ukrainians in a Buzzfeed.com story are pushing back:
“The fact that the US was the first one to announce this” — this being the voluntary departures and mandatory withdrawals — “is extremely disappointing and quite frankly these Americans are safer in Kyiv than they are in Los Angeles … or any other crime-ridden city in the US,” said the source.
