IRS: One In Three Wait Until Final Weeks To File

(Washington, DC) — Time is up for the procrastinators, the deadline to file taxes is Monday. According to the IRS, about three in ten people wait until the three weeks leading up to tax day to file. The agency’s data also shows about 12 percent of taxpayers get their taxes done within the first week that they can file, and another eleven percent will file late with an extension after Tax Day. While typically on April 15th, this year’s deadline is on Monday because of the observance of Emancipation Day in Washington, D.C.
