Registrar-Recorder not playing fair with Gascon petition count? Surprised?

Hear former DA Steve Cooley – one of the leaders of the campaign to recall Gascon – with Frank Mottek on the podcast below. Cooley lays down the law and is working to be sure the Registrar-Recorder follows the law…or in Cooley’s words, there’ll “be hell to pay”.

Representatives for the campaign to recall Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascon are afraid the county isn’t following state law.

Twenty-two-percent of the 717-thousand recall petition signatures submitted have been rejected by L-A County elections officials, putting the prospects of the recall election hitting the November ballot in jeopardy. Recall campaign leaders say the rejection rate is “shockingly large,” and suggests elections officials aren’t complying with a new state law about how or which signatures are verified. The recall committee has brought its concerns to the L-A County Board of Supervisors.
