(Los Angeles, CA) — Los Angeles County is dropping from the CDC’s high to medium activity level for COVID-19. On Thursday, the hospital admission rate fell to nine-point-nine per every thousand residents. Getting below ten qualifies the county to move down a tier. The improving hospitalization numbers, along with improving case numbers, are why L.A. County public health officials decided to hold off on re-implementing a mandatory indoor mask mandate last month. The county is averaging a little bit fewer than 38-hundred cases per day during the past week. Last week, the average was 49-hundred new cases per day

CDC Issues Updated COVID Guidance

(Atlanta, GA) — The CDC is issuing updated COVID guidelines that put less of an emphasis on tough measures to fight the virus. A CDC official told reporters population immunity due to previous infection and vaccination mean the focus can be put on protecting those who are most vulnerable. Those exposed to COVID, but who don’t get infected don’t have to quarantine under the new guidelines. The agency is also moving away from social distancing recommendations.
