(Los Angeles, CA) — Stay out of the water. Tuesday’s heavy rainfall comes with bacteria warnings at Southern California beaches. The high bacteria levels are caused by storm water runoff that can contain chemicals, debris and other health hazards, according to the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health. Contact with hazardous ocean water can cause nausea, vomiting, infections and rashes. Beaches affected range from Santa Monica down to Long Beach and it’s recommended to stay out of the water for at least three days after heavy rain.
