MLB To Keep Seven-Inning Doubleheaders, Runner On Second Rule

(Undated) — Seven-inning doubleheaders and runners on second during games with extra innings will be a part of Major League Baseball for a second consecutive season. These two rules were implemented during the pandemic-shortened 2020 season. There will be no universal designated hitter this season after the National League used a full-time DH for the first time ever last year. The league is on target for a full 162-game season, with spring training starting February 17th and Opening Day on April 1st.
