Dow, S&P 500 Log Records On Strong Quarterly Results

(New York, NY) — It’s another winning day on Wall Street. The Dow and S&P 500 logged fresh records although markets finished the session only modestly higher. The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 15 points to close at a record 35-756. The S&P 500 added eight points to finish at a record 45-74. The Nasdaq gained nine points to 15-235.

United Parcel Service and General Electric were among the day’s best performers. UPS stock jumped almost seven-percent after the shipping giant posted strong quarterly profits and revenue. Meantime, data revealed a slight rise in consumer confidence in October. The Conference Board noted an uptick in the number of consumers planning to purchase homes, cars and major appliances this month.
