An L.A. County sheriff’s deputy is honored for saving a busload of people. Deputy Jesse Hernandez was recognized on Tuesday — for his actions last weekend — when he spotted a burning tour bus on the side of the 60 Freeway in Hacienda Heights. The bus’ door was jammed — trapping the 42 passengers and driver inside — but Hernandez was able to force it open — saving many lives — according to Sheriff Jim McDonnell..
Hernandez was on his way to work at the North County Correctional Facility at the time.
